Beacon Hospital Sdn Bhd

The cost of healthcare treatment has been rising making it extremely challenging for low-income patients to have access to quality treatment/ medical care. Often the rising cost cause patients to shy away from getting the necessary treatment and some opt to skip or delay their treatment and put them in harm’s way. At Beacon Hospital, we believe that everyone from all walks of life deserves access to not only basic healthcare but also to advance medical technology available that can save their lives.

As part of our mission and values of giving back to the society, the management team of Beacon Hospital initiated the Beacon’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives with the aim to reach out to needy patients. Generally, the objectives of Beacon CSR programme are:

  • Create public awareness on cancer and other diseases
  • Emphasise the importance of early detection and timely treatment
  • Provide access and financial aid for treatment purposes

Project Results / Impact on Stakeholder

To date, our CSR funds have been channeled to more than 5,000 underprivileged patients. This has definitely lifted the heavy burden faced by the respective patients and family members during what they term as ‘the darkest days of their life’. We are extremely happy to be enable patients from all walks of life attain equal access to quality healthcare which otherwise would be only available to those who can afford it. We are also able to ensure the continuity of treatment in patients and reduce the occurrences of patients defaulting treatment due to financial challenge.

To the vast community, the various CSR programs offered by Beacon Hospital has enabled the general public to be more conscious of their health & promote early detection, leading to them to adopt a healthier lifestyle. It is also through these education initiatives that people are more open to the idea of early detection & screening as now they have a better understanding of the importance of early diagnosis & treatment thereafter. Another positive impact is that many patients whom initially refused treatment or even resort to unproven alternative treatments, are empowered with knowledge that enable them to make better informed decisions about their health.
