In Malaysia, a total of 72,356 dengue CASES were reported from January-July of year 2019, an 89.5% INCREASE from the same period last year
SELANGOR recorded the HIGHEST NUMBER of dengue cases with 57,980 CASES while the Federal-Territories-of-Kuala-Lumpur and- Putrajaya recorded 13,033 cases
JCI KLM has taken an initiative to create ACTION-AGAINST-DENGUE- COMMUNITY-EMPOWERMENT-PROGRAM (AADCEP) to spread
awareness and knowledge of dengue-fever consisting with JCI Action-Framework which focusing on community-aid.
Through AADCEP, JCI KLM created an awareness about the dangers and negative implications of dengue to the community. It advocate the involvement of each individual in the community with shared- responsibility on prevention and control of dengue.
- Calling for Action from All
Dengue prevention is a shared-responsibility. Individuals have a key- role in keeping their surroundings larva-free and should seek for early-treatment when signs and symptoms of dengue occur.
- Shifting from Reactive to Proactive Approaches
Moving from response-driven to long-term prevention and preparedness-driven activities.
Putting measures in place for better case detection will help to minimize the negative-impact.
1. To donate RM40,000 worth health supplements to enhance medical front liners immune system during COVID-19 Pandemic. To donate PPE, gloves to Hospital Sungai Buloh.
Project Result(s) / Impact(s)
- AADCEP partners with more than 20 CORPORATE COMPANIES, 15 SCHOOLS, COLLEGE & UNIVERSITY to reached around 98,000 people.
- The partnership with Malaysia MEDIA such as 988 Radio-Station has generated 13.5 million views on its Youtube Channel
- Coverage of 95% in the major newspaper (mainly 3 different languages) which impacted more than 3,000,000 people through the channel.
- A DENGUE AWARENESS SONG was composed by AADCEP to spread awareness easily.
- Minister of Health (MOH) approved JCI KLM poster to be published at all public schools and universities’ notice board.
- WHO and ASEAN association pledge support to AADCEP
- AADCEP has contributed a 83% growth of volunteers to be part of the team on spreading the awareness
- During MCO, more than 70 partnerships & supporting organisations had worked together with AADCEP which further extend the impact to nation-wide.
- More than 2,000 Free Dengue Test Kit has been distributed to the red zone areas.
- More than 500 participants from primary and secondary schools teachers and students participate in “Clean Swipe Program” which inspired over 90,000 people to take action on DENGUE PREVENTION
- More than 5,000,000 of people was reached through Malaysia Television and Broadcast media

Through AADCEP, JCI KLM hopes to create an awareness about the dangers and negative implications of dengue to the community, family and individual. It is also about advocating the involvement of each individual in the community that the prevention and control of dengue is a shared responsibility in which everyone plays a role in the fight against this disease. By recent report show that reduced in dengue case.

GOAL 4: ENSURE INCLUSIVE AND EQUITABLE EDUCATION AND PROMOTE LIFELONG LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL
AADCEP answers to the call of UN SDG’s inclusive HEALTH AND WELLNESS for all and promoting awareness of Dengue PREVENTION.
The overall objective is to deliver knowledge of dengue prevention and reduce cases occurrence.
- INSPIRE the public to join AADCEP-to take care of the environment in preventing dangue. To INCREASE the capacity to PREDICT, EARLY DETECTION and RESPOND to dengue outbreaks.
- ENGAGING more stakeholders (including government, NGOs, supporting organizations, media, school, college and university) to EDUCATE and create an IMPACT to the student and public about dengue PREVENTION KNOWLEDGE.
- RAISING public AWARENESS and call for support on REDUCING dengue mortality and
- To REDUCE incidence rates of dengue fever and dengue haemorrhagic fever.
GOAL 6: ENSURE AVAILABILITY AND SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF WATER AND SANITATION FOR ALL
Target 6.4: By 2030, substantially increase water-use efficiency across all sectors and ensure sustainable withdrawals and supply of freshwater to address water scarcity and substantially reduce the number of people suffering from water scarcity
Target 6.b: Support and strengthen the participation of local communities in improving water and sanitation management
With the mentioned target, AADCEP has created a program “Clean Swipe Program” collaborating with 13 primary & secondary school’s teachers and students, Local Authority Council, Government, 8 NGOs with total 500 participants joined this clean-up program for AADCEP.
GOAL 14: CONSERVE AND SUSTAINABLY USE THE OCEANS, SEAS AND MARINE RESOURCES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

A part of AADCEP program is to prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds, in particular from land-based activities, including marine debris and nutrient pollution. In order to restore fish stocks in the shortest time feasible, at least to levels that can produce maximum sustainable yield as determined by their biological characteristics

“Action Against Dengue” Community Empowerment Program, AADCEP project touches on the very core of human health faced by society now-day. The project brings in solutions and awareness to various aspects of education, water, economic growth for the nation and the building of safe, resilient and sustainable cities.
Improving the knowledge and raise awareness of public health concerns of public directly contributes towards the United Nations’ goal of creating a blueprint for peace and prosperity for the people and the planet, now and into the future.
