Eco Foodsoft is a pioneering company dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental savings through its innovative approach to waste management and organic compost production. We collect various industrial organic waste materials such as mushroom waste, coffee waste, tea waste, durian husk waste, and food waste, and transform these materials into high-quality organic compost.
We have a Malaysia’s largest earthworm farm, where we produce vermicast—a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer. Earthworms play a vital role in the decomposition of organic matter, facilitating the breakdown process and transforming it into rich, nutrient-dense vermicast.
We then combine the vermicast with the processed organic waste, to become our product namely “iECO Vermicast Compost”. This unique blend enriches the compost with an abundance of nutrients, microorganisms, and it leads to significant advancements in sustainable agriculture, positively impacting soil health by supporting long-term soil fertility.
We distribute our compost products to more than 1000 local farmers with more than 10,000 tonnes annually, we enabled them to adopt sustainable agricultural practices. Our compost enhances soil structure, water retention, and nutrient availability, leading to healthier plants and increased crop yields. This reduces the reliance on chemical fertilizers, significantly reducing soil degradation caused by excessive use of synthetic inputs.
We actively engage with local farmers, sharing knowledge and providing educational resources to promote the adoption of our organic compost products. By encouraging farmers to utilize these sustainable alternatives, they can apply sustainable land management practices to reduce the environmental impact associated with conventional farming practices.
In conclusion, we not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions by diverting organic waste from landfills but also promotes sustainable agricultural practices, preserving soil health, conserving water resources, and mitigating environmental pollution. We strive to create a positive impact on the environment, fostering a greener and more sustainable future for agriculture and the planet as a whole.
Project Results / Impact on Stakeholder
We achieved success by providing a valuable solution that aligns with the growing demand for sustainable agriculture. Through the effort of knowledge sharing, educations and promotions, farmers are empowered to adopt sustainable land management practices, preserving their farmland’s long-term fertility. More than 1,000 farmers benefited from our distribution of iECO Vermicast Compost, which improved their soil health, water retention, and nutrient availability. This leads to increased crop yields, reduced reliance on chemical fertilizers, and improved economic viability.
By applying annually 10,000-tons of iECO Vermicast Compost nationwide by local farmers, minimized negative impacts on soil and water resources, promoting sustainability, preserving biodiversity and reduced chemical fertilizers usage >50% compared to conventional farming practices. Since started, approximately 25,000-acres of lands benefited, prevented from soil degradation caused by excessive use of synthetic inputs.
At diverting organic waste from landfills, since started, we diverted approximately 40,000-tons of waste to organic compost, eliminated 168,000-tons of greenhouse emissions (1-ton of waste emits 4.2-ton methane – a poisonous greenhouse gas)
And society also benefited from reduced environmental impacts and a more resilient food system. So, we delivered tangible benefits to farmers, the environment, and society, promoted sustainable practices, enhances soil fertility, reduces pollution, and supports a greener.
