It involved 18 PRIMARY SCHOOLS with a total of 30,000 STUDENTS in this project. The organisations involved are&nbsp; PTO, orphanage, government &amp; OCBC Bank<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Targets are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>To SET UP READING CORNER with FURNITURE AND BOOKS.<\/li><li>To donate dictionary to needy student.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Long term objectives are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>To CULTIVATE READING HABIT<\/li><li>To encourage primary students to SPEND THE TIME to read and build the habit since young.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This project have BUILD POSITIVE IMAGE through several mainstream newspaper and created impact nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Setup 22 Reading Corners in 20 Primary schools &amp; 2 Orphanage Home<\/li><li>Subsidiary Project:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Love Dictionaries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2015-2000 dictionaries to 36 primary schools<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2017-300 dictionaries to 7 primary schools<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) Go Green Campus Reading Program:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2017-9 primary schools<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Impact:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Give equal opportunity to 24,000 students regardless of race (MALAY, INDIAN, CHINESE AND BUMIPUTRA) the access to knowledge in order to provide lifelong learning opportunities.<\/li><li>Broaden students&#8217; interest in exchanging ideas and training their critical thinking.<\/li><li>Create awareness on the environmental protection among societies.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How did this project create impact to the employees\/ volunteers?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Members are proud to be part of this successful program in JCI Butterworth City, and our effort and hard work has been RECOGNIZED BY OTHER CHAPTERS AND COMMUNITY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12 new members are eager to be part of our team, as we provide the opportunity to not only involve and lead in the program, but the vast network of people to know and work with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What impact has this project created in the community \/ nation?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Reading Corner BREAKS RACES\u2019 BARRIER, as we establish the program with the aim to all students regardless of races or ethnicity. We have reached out to MALAYS, INDIANS, CHINESE AND INDIGENOUS STUDENTS, even BUMIPUTRAS STUDENTS FROM CAMERON HIGHLANDS. We strive to give EQUAL OPPORTUNITY to all students the access to books in Reading Corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who were the partners in this project and what their roles?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We collaborate with MORE THAN 16 ORGANIZATIONS TO REACH THE OBJECTIVE OF ACTIVE CITIZEN FRAMEWORK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>JCI Butterworth City: Setup reading corner<\/li><li>OCBC Bank: Main sponsor<\/li><li>Persatuan Ibu Bapa dan Guru: Assist in setting up<\/li><li>Toastmaster: Organize speech \/ reading contest<\/li><li>Adun Tambun &#8211; YB Dato&#8217; Law Choo Kiang: Endorsement<\/li><li>Corporate Patrons: Funding for furniture, books &amp; stationery<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How was this project help to advance the chosen SDG?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This project is leading a quality education by creating a golden opportunity to lead the interaction between teachers and students through open group discussion rather than just sharing book-based knowledge.
