In 2015, world leaders from 193 countries agreed the sustainable development goals or the 17 SDGs. The 17 SDGs are the world’s new action plan for the next 15 years to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, fight inequality, tackle climate change, and achieve sustainable development for all.
About JCI Malaysia Sustainable Development Award
In Sept 2015, United Nations announced the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved by the year 2030, to replace the Millennium Development Goals that ended in 2015. In Oct 2015, JCI Malaysia released a Declaration at its Annual National Convention to announce our commitment to help educate, promote, and conduct sustainable projects in line with the UN SDGs.
In Nov 2015, JCI also released a Declaration at the JCI World Congress to commit to advancing the UN SDGs.
In year 2016, JCIM NBOD endorsed the JCIM Sustainable Development Award to be conducted as a National Project.
In 2017, the 1st JCIM Sustainable Development Award, held at Sunway Putra Hotel, was led by National Global Goals Commission Chair Celine Khor as the Organising Chair, with collaboration from all Areas and members from various LOs.
The 3rd Year JCIM Sustainable Development Award conducted by JCI Malaysia and in 2019 it will be hosted by Junior Chamber International Elite.
This is the 4th Year JCIM Sustainable Development Award conducted by JCI Malaysia and in 2020 it will be hosted by Junior Chamber International Muar.
