This is a first-of-its-kind project aimed at giving back to society with a self-sustainable approach. We organized art auction cum charity fundraiser and use the fund to make donations in cash and kind (food, stationery and toys) to old folks’ homes and orphanages in the area. We also reach out to the orphanages to conduct outdoor games, talks and free art classes by our staff. Since June 2016, the hands-on art classes began to involve our students directly, where they mentor and teach these underprivileged children. This project has resulted in consistent funding for the orphanages and old folks’ homes in need and also promoted the holistic development of the children in our care. Our students improved their public speaking, entrepreneurship and communication skills during the art auction. Also, they developed empathy for the needy and learnt to be generous with their time and skills. Meanwhile, the orphans and underprivileged children received exposure to art education, gained self-esteem and developed their soft skills through their interactions with various people during this time. Also, the quality art education we provide through this project inspires creativity and self-expression as well as character and intellectual development of children, the future leaders of tomorrow. This project created a significant impact on the employees of Muzart by giving our staff a unique opportunity to do good on a large scale, fostering a sense of satisfaction and achievement. They also deepened their sense of empathy through spending time with the needy and underprivileged. The project also catalyzed the development of the staffs’ leadership, organisational and adaptation skills.
